Communication and Team Work Skills are Vital in the Work Place
I believe that having a strong understanding of your lab partners and being able to work cooperatively is an essential skill for success in my chosen field of work.
How I've improved my skills
Throughout BIOL342 – Biomedical Research: Skills and Techniques, I have greatly strengthened my ability to communicate scientific ideas clearly and collaborate effectively in a research environment. Laboratory sessions, group data analyses, and our final ePoster presentation each provided opportunities to engage in teamwork, share responsibilities, and integrate ideas from different perspectives.
These experiences have developed my confidence in explaining research outcomes, listening to feedback, and contributing constructively to a team — all skills that are essential in both scientific and professional contexts.

BIOL342 Poster presentation
Creating and presenting an ePoster was an opportunity to learn how to communicate scientific findings succinctly and visually. We presented our mass spectrum data and histology images, which required determining which information was essential and how best to present it for clarity and engagement. I learned to use figures and flowcharts to simplify the methodology and highlight key findings.
During the presentation, we shared speaking roles and answered questions from peers and academics. Responding to questions required quick thinking and a good understanding of our data. These experiences strengthened my confidence in discussing scientific work and reinforced the value of preparation and collaboration in professional communication
